Please excuse my absence!

My computer battery seems to have given out and while I wait for the new one to be delivered the blog is on hold for a few days. Fingers crossed all is well once the replacement arrives!

A few exciting things as of late:
1. Small updates should be appearing to the blog more and more in the coming weeks! (Something that will be more notable once my computer is back in action.) I changed some of the design more than a month ago and slowly have been working on new things here and there.

2. We set a wedding date!!!

3. I get braces on Friday. I am both very excited and very nervous about this.

4. J ordered Jack White’s new album Blunderbuss for me on 180 gram vinyl (above) and it arrived yesterday! So awesome! Cool fiancé or coolest fiancé?

Something pretty for a Monday morning.

If you love basic tees, you do not want to pass this up! J. Crew’s tees tend to be a bit overpriced for what they are, but they fit great. I will occasional pay for one here and there, but mostly I scope out their sale and factory selections and usually end up getting 50% or more off. Today: regular $24.50 tees for $9.50!

I’m personally a little bummed out by this because the tees were on sale when I ordered several a few days ago for $12.50. If only I had waited a few more days!! But, waiting to post the deal = you saving money, so someone wins, right? (That’s what I’m telling myself!)

Betsey Johnson is having a going out of business sale… What does this mean for you? It means clothing, handbags, jewelry, and footwear are discounted 20-50% in stores and online. If you’re a fan and want to get your hands on any items before they’re all gone, hurry!

This is my favorite handbag running in Kate Spade’s surprise sale today. For a Daily Deal it is more pricey, but it’s marked down quite a bit from it’s original price, so it’s kind of a deal and a splurge. I would love, love, love to order this bag! (But sadly, I cannot.) The style, the color, the size - it’s perfect for summer! It’s also available in more neutral tones if the color isn’t working for you.

Kate Spade is running a surprise sale today! I really like the shape of these shades and it’s probably because it’s fitting for most face shapes - oval, round, square, diamond, heart, whatever you may have these sunglasses should suit you. If you’re considering them you may want to place your order, they’re more than half off and one color is already sold out!

If you’re not into the shorter shorts that most retailers are putting out for summer, J. Crew offers their chino shorts in various lengths. The 5in style isn’t too short or too long, but right in between. I actually picked up a charcoal pair a few weeks ago and they’re long enough that I’ll be able to wear them to work - depending on your dress code, these may work for you too.

If you’re considering ordering online it’s worth mentioning that these do have a tab closure, not a button. I’m not sure about anyone else, but this can sometimes be a little uncomfortable depending on the fit/style of the brand.

The Drapers East Side Apartment

images via and via.

If you’re a Mad Men fan this ultra mod 60s apartment may look very familiar. I love all of the touches the set designers have incorporated that give you the feeling that Don and Megan designed this place together, unlike the home he shared with Betty. More so than being a great style for the 60s, there are so many elements to this place that have made a comeback from decades ago and are popular now.

We’ve added a lovely lamp with a mint base and ivory shade that would fit right into the Drapers’ new pad. We’re also on the hunt for a couch, similar to the one above (though not as large) and a record cabinet to store our collection in. If only it were the 60s, these pieces may be more attainable at reasonable prices!

Have you made any 60s-esque home decor purchases? Are you a fan of this style?

If you’re thinking about replacing an accent lamp, it may be more worthwhile to re-vamp with a new shade rather than put yourself out even more money. This fun shade from Anthropologie may be more appropriate for a colorful home office or even a kids room (ie. not your living room unless it matches your theme/style) but I couldn’t resist sharing!

Continual Carets Shade, Anthropologie $88 $49.95

I really like the cut of this dress, but the diagonal stripes are what caught my attention. Vertical and horizontal stripes are so common so this is a great way to change it up a bit. The accented waist helps divide the stripes and create a more defined shape. Plus, it’s a versatile piece that you can wear for a variety of occasions - to the office, dinner out, bridal showers, etc.
